Job description

Job Responsibilities:

1. Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks on various heavy equipment such as CNC machines, wheelset changers, overhead cranes, bogie systems, and other machinery., ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

2. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance activities on wheelset changers, overhead cranes, bogie systems, wheel profile measurement units, and other equipment to identify and address potential issues.

3. maintain specialized machinery such as underfloor wheel lathes, CNC machines and wheelset turntables.

4. Coordinate with other maintenance team members to schedule and prioritize equipment maintenance tasks based on operational needs and production schedules.

5. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations during all maintenance activities, including lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.

6. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or manual logs.

7. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime and production interruptions.

8. Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to evaluate equipment performance, recommend improvements or upgrades, and participate in the selection and procurement of spare parts and components.

9. Provide technical support and training to junior maintenance technicians and operators as needed to enhance their skills and knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures.

10. Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance workshops and storage areas, ensuring proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and spare parts.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

2. Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, particularly with the listed equipment types.

3. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems related to heavy machinery.

4. Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in an industrial maintenance environment.

5. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.

6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues effectively.

7. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

8. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to support maintenance activities and respond to equipment emergencies.

9. Certifications or training in equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and relevant industry standards are desirable.

10. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in maintenance work.
