Job Title: Civil Estimation Engineer
Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation:
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
- Estimate quantities and costs of materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete projects.
- Utilize software and tools to assist in estimating and cost analysis.
2. Bid Preparation:
- Prepare detailed bid proposals based on cost estimates, ensuring all aspects of the project requirements are covered.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for bids.
- Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure completeness and accuracy.
3. Value Engineering:
- Evaluate alternate materials and methods to achieve cost-effective solutions while maintaining project quality and requirements.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies without compromising safety or project integrity.
4. Cost Control:
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle of projects, comparing actual costs to estimated costs and identifying reasons for discrepancies.
- Assist in developing and updating cost databases and historical cost data for future estimating.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and files of all estimates, bids, and related correspondence.
- Prepare and present cost estimates and supporting documentation to management and clients as needed.
6. Risk Assessment:
- Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities during the estimating process.
- Provide recommendations and strategies to mitigate risks related to cost overruns or delays.
7. Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project requirements and goals.
- Participate in meetings and discussions to contribute insights on cost-related matters.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role in civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in using estimation software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Excel).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Cost Professional, Certified Professional Estimator).
- Familiarity with building codes and standards.
- Experience with project management software.
