Job Title: Procurement & Technical Submittal Mechanical Engineer – MEP
Job Summary:
The Procurement & Technical Submittal Engineer for HVAC, PLUMBING & FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM works is responsible for managing procurement activities, handling technical submittals, and preparing accurate Bills of Quantities for MEP projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of MEP systems, procurement strategies, and documentation standards, ensuring that all materials and equipment meet project specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Process Management:
o Develop and implement procurement strategies for MEP materials and services.
o Conduct supplier/vendor evaluation, selection, and negotiation to achieve the best pricing, terms, and quality.
o Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
2. Preparation of Technical Submittals:
o Review project specifications and prepare detailed technical submittals in compliance with client requirements.
o Coordinate with engineers, designers, and contractors to ensure all technical documentation is accurate and meets industry standards.
o Submit material approvals and equipment certifications for client review.
3. Bill of Quantities (BOQ) Preparation:
o Prepare and review detailed BOQs for MEP works by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
o Ensure that all quantities are accurate and in line with project budgets.
o Update BOQs regularly, reflecting any changes in project scope or material requirements.
4. Coordination and Communication:
o Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and designers to ensure that procurement and submittal processes align with project timelines.
o Maintain clear communication with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders regarding progress, delays, and material specifications
5. Cost Control & Documentation:
o Monitor and track material costs, delivery schedules, and budget adherence.
o Ensure that all procurement records, submittals, and BOQ documentation are maintained and accessible for audits or reviews.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 4-5 years of experience in procurement, technical submittals, and BOQ preparation for MEP works.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC, plumbing & Firefighting and + point for electrical systems.
• Familiarity with construction project workflows and procurement processes.
• Proficiency in software tools like AutoCAD, MS Excel, and procurement software.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Desirable Skills:
• Previous experience with construction projects or infrastructure development.
• Knowledge of local and international standards for MEP works (e.g., ASHRAE, NEC, BS standards).
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
