The Planning Engineer is responsible for creating, updating, and managing the project schedules to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. This role involves preparing project plans, tracking progress, conducting risk assessments, and providing timely reports to stakeholders. The Planning Engineer will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure that the project is progressing according to the agreed timelines and milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using project management software ( Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
• Assist in defining project milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
• Coordinate with different teams to ensure schedule adherence.
• Assess resource requirements (labor, materials, equipment) and optimize their distribution across tasks.
• Identify potential risks and constraints that could impact the project schedule.
• Track project progress against the schedule, identifying any delays or deviations.
• Prepare regular progress reports and updates for stakeholders.
• Assess the impact of changes to the project scope or timeline on the overall schedule.
• Prepare schedule updates and communicate changes to all relevant parties.
• Maintain records of planning documents, schedules, and correspondence related to project timelines.
• Ensure that all planning documentation is up to date and accessible.
• Ensure that all project planning complies with applicable standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
• Plan for project closeout activities, ensuring all documentation is completed and final reports are prepared.
• Develop project cash flow and earned value calculations.
Qualifications:
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, certified PMI-SP.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in planning and scheduling within the contracting or construction industry.
o Proven track record in using scheduling software (Primavera P6).
o Familiarity with construction processes, methods, and terminology.
