REMARKS :

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE :

The primary role of the position is coordinating and planning all Shutdown activities in Maaden Aluminum. Assistant to, and close network with all departments are required, also in developing solutions to complex coordination problems, which impact on the business.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Shutdown Planning Engineer is expected to actively seek advice and perspectives from colleagues and leaders. He will ensure that all work within his area of responsibility is planned and executed safely and efficiently.

Special focus on the following:

• Ensure that shutdown planning of activities is a priority in Maaden Aluminium, and that these plans are utilized efficiently.

• Promote a culture within the planning to ensure that Maaden Aluminium objectives are met. Secure delivery in line with the objectives.

• Ensure competence and experience transfer by good communication

Responsibilities : -

• A LONG TERM MAJOR OVERHAUL SCHEDULE will exist for EVERY Equip. item that has major overhauls associated with it. These schedules will span at least 3 major overhaul life cycles of the equipment or 18 months which every is greater. These schedules will be controlled and form the basis of annual budgeting and 12-month plans.

• Developing the activity and resource plan for each major overhaul.

• Manages all requirements of the major overhaul 16 week planning process as detailed in the 16 weeks.

• Attends the asset owning work centre planning meeting s to present and sign off 16 weeks overhaul schedule.

• Maintains major overhaul planning board and reviews daily with execution team.

• Reviews planning board weekly with execution supervisor and works to solve ongoing problems.

• Organizes all preplanning activities to ensure a safe overhaul is achieved on time and on budget.

• Organizes all pre and post overhaul improvement meetings and activities.

• Responsible for the continuous improvement of the execution methodology to reduce time and costs.

• Ensures all improvements are built into the next overhaul.

• Ensures all planning documentation is maintained and updated.

• Ensures Oracle is updated and accurately reflects the current strategy and execution activities.

• Coordinate activities between operational units and projects, taking initiative on priorities. Decisions shall reflect multi-functional perspectives and balance.

The Shutdown Planning Engineer ensures that all work, tasks and projects within his area of responsibility are carried out to achieve the overall objectives for Maaden Aluminium. These include EHS, technical integrity, production and cost

Technical skills : -

• Must have advanced technical knowledge and general understanding of the organization, functions, roles and responsibilities.

• MSc or BSc in engineering or equivalent will be an advantage, however substantial long term experience within planning will also be considered.

• Advance knowledge of IT-based planning tools.
