Position Overview:
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring project activities to ensure successful delivery within the established timeline and budget. This role requires expertise in tracking project events, managing variation orders, and obtaining extensions of time. The Senior Planning Engineer also prepares financial forecasts and supports invoicing and documentation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Project Planning and Scheduling
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project tools.
Monitor project progress and Performance against the baseline schedule.
Identify critical paths, delays, and potential risks to provide proactive solutions.
Update and revise schedules as necessary to reflect project changes or delays.
B. Tracking Project Events
Track and document all significant project events, milestones, and deviations from the original plan.
Maintain records of project decisions, approvals, and communications for reference and audit purposes.
C. Variation Order and Extension of Time Management
Analyze project changes and assess the impact on scope, cost, and time.
Prepare detailed documentation and justifications for variation orders and extension of time requests.

Prepare and update S-curves for progress tracking, comparing planned versus actual progress.
Analyze project trends and report progress, productivity, and resource utilization.
E. Financial Forecasting and Invoicing

Prepare and review project invoices, ensuring alignment with contract terms and client requirements.
Collaborate with the finance team to track payments and resolve invoicing discrepancies.
F. Documentation Preparation

Maintain organized project records, including drawings, contracts, correspondence, and approvals.
Ensure all documentation complies with contractual and regulatory requirements.
G. Stakeholder Coordination

Support coordination of project reviews, meetings, and reporting activities.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience experience and scheduling, preferably in large-scale construction projects.
Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and advanced Excel.
o Strong understanding of project management methodologies and construction contracts (FIDIC preferred).
Experience in variation orders, extensions of time, and financial forecasting.
Key Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. I have strong knowledge of S-curves, progress tracking, and project reporting.
Communication and negotiation skills for dealing with stakeholders. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
