We are looking for a Project Engineer with 5-7 years of experience in substation testing, commissioning, and project execution. The ideal candidate should have expertise in electrical testing, protection systems, and commissioning of high-voltage substations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on testing experience, and the ability to coordinate with project teams for successful substation commissioning.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversee testing and commissioning activities of high-voltage substations (GIS & AIS), transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
Perform electrical testing including primary & secondary injection, relay testing, CT/PT testing, insulation resistance, and power transformer testing.
Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and local grid codes for substation commissioning.
Work closely with testing teams, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth execution of projects.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults, protection relay issues, and SCADA integration challenges.
Prepare technical reports, test procedures, and commissioning documentation.
Coordinate with utilities, transmission operators, and regulatory authorities for approvals and energization.
Support HSE compliance and ensure adherence to safety standards at testing sites.
Assist in factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) of substation equipment.
Provide technical support and training to the field team on substation testing and protection systems.
Requirements:
5-7 years of experience in substation testing, commissioning, and protection systems.
Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment, relay coordination, and grid integration.
Experience in testing tools such as Omicron, Doble, Megger, and secondary injection kits.
Familiarity with SCADA systems, RTUs, and communication protocols (IEC 61850, MODBUS, DNP3).
Ability to analyze relay coordination studies, fault records, and protection settings.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Experience in working with transmission & distribution companies in the Middle East is an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage).
