Job Description
The senior mechanical engineer will oversee the mechanical aspects of construction projects at the site, focusing on plumbing, HVAC, and firefighting systems. They will ensure the implementation of high-quality standards, compliance with project timelines, and adherence to local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Supervision
Monitor the installation and execution of plumbing, HVAC, and firefighting systems on-site.
Ensure that work complies with design specifications, project schedules, and safety standards.
Perform quality checks on materials and completed work.
Shop Drawing Review and Approvals
Review and verify shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
Submit drawings to the consultant for review and approval, and follow up to address comments promptly.
Material Request and Management
Assess project material requirements and ensure timely procurement.
Submit Material Request Forms (MRFs) to the procurement team and ensure materials meet project specifications and approvals.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to track deliveries and resolve issues.
Coordination and Communication
Liaise between the project consultant, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical and site issues.
Attend site meetings to report progress, challenges, and technical solutions.
Compliance and Reporting
Ensure that all mechanical works align with Saudi building codes, safety regulations, and project standards.
Prepare regular progress reports for management and consultants.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
Experience:
8–10 years in mechanical construction, with a focus on site engineering, preferably in the Gulf region.
Proven expertise in plumbing, HVAC, and firefighting systems.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and shop drawings.
Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools.
Strong understanding of mechanical codes and standards.
Key Competencies:
Excellent problem-solving skills for site challenges.
Strong communication skills to manage consultants and contractors.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Certifications:
Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership is preferred or required.
Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or firefighting systems is a plus.
Language:
Proficiency in English (mandatory); knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
