Job description

The Industrial UPS Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems in an industrial environment. This includes preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and ensuring the reliable operation of all UPS units.

Responsibilities:

* Preventative Maintenance:

* Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on all UPS systems according to manufacturer specifications and established schedules.

* Perform battery testing, replacements, and maintenance.

* Clean and inspect UPS components, including rectifiers, inverters, and bypass systems.

* Monitor and record UPS performance data, identifying potential issues.

* Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records.

* Troubleshooting & Repair:

* Diagnose and troubleshoot UPS system failures, identifying root causes.

* Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components, including electronic boards, power modules, and wiring.

* Respond promptly to emergency calls for UPS system failures.

* Minimize downtime during repairs and ensure quick restoration of power.

* Installation & Commissioning:

* Assist in the installation and commissioning of new UPS systems.

* Verify proper installation and configuration of UPS units.

* Conduct performance testing and ensure compliance with specifications.

* Technical Knowledge & Skills:

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UPS technologies, including various topologies (e.g., online, line-interactive, standby).

* Understand and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

* Proficient in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for UPS systems.

* Knowledge of power distribution systems and electrical safety practices.

* Other Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and engineers.

* Provide technical support to operations staff regarding UPS systems.

* Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.

* Maintain a clean and organized work area.

* Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

* Prepare reports on UPS system performance and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. (Preferred, but experience may substitute)

* Proven experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial UPS systems.

* Strong understanding of electrical principles and power electronics.

* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
