Job Summary:
Southern Rock (SRC) is looking for a highly competent Mechanical / Structural Engineer with strong technical expertise in fabrication and erection of steel structures, along with the ability to effectively engage with clients and understand their requirements.
The ideal candidate must be capable of interpreting client needs, translating them into practical execution plans, and ensuring seamless coordination between engineering, fabrication, and site execution teams.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Review and interpret engineering drawings (GADs, isometric, fabrication drawings) and project specifications.
•
Understand client requirements clearly and provide technical inputs, clarifications, and solutions.
•
Act as a technical focal point between client, engineering team, and site execution team.
•
Plan, supervise, and execute fabrication and erection of steel structures, pipe supports, platforms, and related works.
•
Ensure all works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
•
Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and site visits to ensure alignment on scope and execution strategy.
•
Prepare and review method statements, work procedures, and technical submissions.
•
Identify and resolve technical challenges during fabrication and erection stages.
•
Monitor site progress and ensure timely completion of activities.
•
Coordinate with procurement and fabrication teams for material and resource planning.
•
Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements, NDT standards, and HSE procedures (WPR, LOTO, etc.).
Required Qualifications:
•
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Structural Engineering or equivalent.
•
5–6 years of relevant experience in fabrication and erection of steel structures in industrial projects.
Core Competencies (Must Have):
•
Strong technical understanding of steel fabrication, erection methodologies, and structural systems.
•
Ability to understand complete project scope from drawings and specifications.
•
Capability to interact with clients, understand their expectations, and translate them into execution plans.
•
Good knowledge of welding, materials, and inspection requirements.
•
Experience in handling site execution and resolving real-time technical issues.
Preferred Skills:
•
Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, NDT, and inspection protocols.
•
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
•
Strong communication and coordination skills.
