Saudi Gold Refinery Co. Ltd (SGR) is the first of the new mining companies to start producing gold in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

SGR is the premier company within the Sulaiman Saleh Al-Othaim Mining Group. It is a private exploration and mining entity established as part of a 15-year strategic plan focusing on gradual and cumulative development. Based in Riyadh, SGR aims to become a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia, aligning its operations with Vision 2030. Currently, it operates a gold heap-leach mine producing approximately 2,600 ounces of gold per month.

SGR is completing a Pre-Feasibility Study to extend the Life of Mine (LOM) of Hamdah Mine, and is advancing the Idhikri Project, which is currently in the feasibility phase. The company also holds more than 45 active exploration licenses in various stages of exploration and has recruited over 40+ geologists, supported by logistics and laboratory services, along with both diamond and reverse circulation drilling capacity. This enables SGR to advance any project through the exploration–development cycle to the exploitation stage.

The Company has adopted ESG standards and established a structure in readiness for listing on an internationally recognized stock exchange by 2028. Internally, the Accounting Department operates through Odoo ERP, while the Human Resources Department utilizes Jisr HR, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and full alignment with international and local compliance standards.?

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Detail Design & Engineering

? Lead and execute detailed mechanical engineering design for mineral processing facilities, including crushing and grinding circuits, flotation, leaching, thickening, filtration, materials handling, and associated plant infrastructure.

? Develop and review core mechanical engineering deliverables including equipment general arrangement (GA) drawings, mechanical equipment lists, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), line lists, equipment data sheets, and design basis memoranda.

? Perform and review mechanical engineering calculations covering equipment sizing, rotating equipment performance, pressure vessel design, pipe stress analysis, and structural load assessments for mechanical equipment.

? Prepare and review technical purchase specifications, requisitions, and vendor data review (VDR) packages for major mechanical equipment items including mills, crushers, screens, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and pressure vessels.

? Manage the Interdisciplinary Check (IDC) process for mechanical deliverables, coordinating interfaces with civil/structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and process disciplines to ensure design integrity and constructability.

? Ensure all design deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards and project document management procedures.

? Contribute to the development and review of design basis documents, engineering criteria, and project-specific standards during the early phases of project execution.

Equipment Procurement & Vendor Management

? Lead mechanical equipment procurement activities in close collaboration with the project procurement team; prepare technical bid evaluations (TBEs) and provide recommendation for award on major packages.

? Manage vendor data review (VDR) programs for mechanical equipment, ensuring technical submittals are assessed against specifications and comments are issued and tracked to resolution within project schedule requirements.

? Review and approve vendor installation, operation, and maintenance (IOM) manuals; ensure technical content is transferred to commissioning and operations teams.

Site Construction Engineering Support

? Mobilise to remote project sites during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases as required; provide on-the-ground mechanical engineering support and technical guidance to construction and commissioning teams.

? Review and respond to site technical queries (TQs), requests for information (RFIs), and non-conformance reports (NCRs) in a timely manner; prepare and process engineering change notices (ECNs) for site-generated design variations.

? Conduct site inspections and walkdowns to verify installed mechanical works against approved for construction (AFC) drawings, specifications, and vendor installation requirements; prepare and manage punch-lists through to close-out.

? Provide engineering support during mechanical pre-commissioning activities including equipment alignment, grouting verification, lubrication, pre-start inspections, and initial run-testing of rotating equipment.

? Participate in system handover and mechanical completion certification (MCC) processes; verify documentation packages meet handover requirements and liaise with commissioning and operations teams during start-up.

? Identify, assess, and manage design changes arising from site conditions or construction-phase variations; prepare mark-ups and coordinate as-built documentation with the document control team.

Project Engineering & Leadership

? Mentor, guide, and technically review the work of junior and intermediate mechanical engineers; approve deliverables as required by the project quality plan and engineering review matrix.

? Manage the mechanical discipline scope within project schedules; track engineering progress against the Engineering Deliverable Register (EDR), report status, and proactively identify and resolve schedule deviations.

? Interface with project management, procurement, construction management, and client engineering teams to resolve technical issues and maintain aligned project delivery.

? Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, constructability reviews, and value engineering workshops as the mechanical discipline representative; own action item close-out for mechanical scope.

? Contribute to project risk register management for mechanical scope; identify and own mechanical-related risks and opportunities in line with project governance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential Qualifications

? Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized university.

? Minimum 15 years of post-graduate mechanical engineering experience in industrial capital project environments, with progressive responsibility across project phases.

Industry & Project Experience

? Demonstrated experience on EPC or EPCM contracts for greenfield or brownfield mineral processing projects.

? Proven track record delivering both detailed design-phase mechanical engineering and site construction engineering support roles on major capital projects — direct involvement in both phases on the same or successive projects is highly valued.

? Substantial experience on remote location, including familiarity with the logistical, environmental, and engineering challenges associated with infrastructure-limited project sites.
