Job Title: Civil Supervisor – Earthwork & Pipeline

Department: Construction / Civil Works

Reports To: Project Manager / Site Engineer

Location: Eastern region

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose

To supervise and coordinate daily civil construction activities related to earthwork and pipeline installation, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day earthwork activities including excavation, backfilling, grading, compaction, and trenching in line with approved drawings and specifications.

• Oversee pipeline installation works including trenching, pipe laying, jointing, bedding, backfilling, and hydrotesting for water, sewer, or utility pipelines.

• Coordinate with surveyors to ensure correct alignment, levels, and grades for earthwork and pipeline routes.

• Review and interpret construction drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications to plan daily work activities.

• Monitor and manage subcontractors, labor crews, and equipment operators to ensure productivity and adherence to schedule.

• Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures on site at all times.

• Conduct quality checks and inspections on earthwork compaction, pipe laying, jointing, and backfill compliance.

• Coordinate material requirements (pipes, bedding sand, aggregates) and ensure timely availability at site.

• Maintain daily progress reports, site diaries, material consumption records, and manpower/equipment logs.

• Liaise with QA/QC, safety officers, and consultants during inspections and testing (e.g., compaction tests, pressure/leak tests).

• Identify and resolve on-site issues, delays, or discrepancies, escalating to the Project Manager as needed.

• Ensure as-built records are maintained accurately for earthwork and pipeline sections.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in civil construction, with hands-on supervisory experience in earthwork and pipeline installation (water supply, sewerage, storm water, or oil & gas pipelines as applicable).

• Solid understanding of trenching, dewatering, compaction methods, and pipe-laying techniques (GRP, HDPE, DI, PVC, etc., as relevant).

• Familiarity with survey instruments (total station, levels) for grade and alignment checks.

• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, local municipal specifications).

• Experience working with HSE requirements on construction sites.

• Proficiency in reading civil/construction drawings and BOQs.

• Good communication skills (written and verbal) in English []and Arabic, if required].

• Problem-solving and decision-making under site conditions.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple work fronts simultaneously
