Planning Engineer

Building Construction Project

We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join our project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full planning and scheduling of the project across the complete project life cycle — from initial baseline development through execution, monitoring, control, and final close-out.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Baseline Development

Develop and maintain the Master Project Schedule covering the full project life cycle (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover).

Prepare detailed Level 3 / Level 4 schedules using Primavera P6 (or equivalent), incorporating all work packages, milestones, and deliverables.

Establish the approved baseline schedule and manage all subsequent updates and revisions.

Define work breakdown structure (WBS), activity coding, and calendar settings in line with project requirements.

Scheduling, Progress Monitoring & Control

Update the project schedule regularly based on actual progress from site and engineering teams.

Perform critical path analysis, float management, and identify potential delays at an early stage.

Prepare recovery schedules and what-if scenarios when required.

Monitor resource loading (manpower, equipment) and highlight potential conflicts or shortages.

Track key performance indicators (KPIs), physical progress, and earned value metrics.

Coordination & Interface Management

Coordinate closely with construction, engineering, procurement, QA/QC, and site teams to ensure realistic and achievable programmes.

Participate in weekly progress meetings, coordination meetings, and planning workshops.

Support the development of short-term look-ahead schedules (2-week / 4-week / 3-month).

Interface with subcontractors to integrate their detailed schedules into the master programme.

Reporting & Analysis

Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, S-curves, histograms, and planning dashboards.

Provide delay analysis and support the preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims and contemporaneous records.

Maintain accurate schedule narratives and change logs.

Support senior management with planning inputs for decision-making.

Project Close-out

Update the final as-built schedule.

Support the compilation of project close-out documentation related to planning and scheduling.

Capture lessons learned for future projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.

Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in project planning and scheduling on building or infrastructure construction projects.

Proven experience covering the complete project life cycle (from tender/award through construction to handover).

Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory). Experience with MS Project is an advantage.

Strong knowledge of critical path method (CPM), earned value management, and delay analysis techniques.

Ability to develop realistic and logic-driven schedules that reflect actual site conditions and constraints.

Excellent coordination, communication, and reporting skills.

Experience working with international consultants and under FIDIC or similar contract conditions is preferred.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-track project environment.

Preferred

Previous experience on large-scale building projects (commercial, institutional, residential, or airport-related).

Familiarity with resource and cost loading in P6.

Knowledge of local construction practices and typical sequencing for multi-disciplinary building works.

This is a key site/office-based role requiring strong technical planning skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence programme performance throughout the project life cycle.
