An industrial electrical engineer in an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) oil and gas project designs, manages, and commissions high- and low-voltage power systems. They ensure safe, reliable electrification for refineries, petrochemical plants, and pipelines while following strict safety codes like IEC, NEC, and Saudi Aramco standards.
Core Responsibilities
• Design & Engineering: Prepare single-line diagrams, load flow studies, short-circuit analyses, and protective relay settings using software like ETAP.
• Procurement Support: Create technical data sheets and material requisitions for transformers, switchgear, motors, and Motor Control Centers (MCCs).
• Hazardous Area Compliance: Design and inspect electrical installations for explosive or hazardous environments following IEC 60079 and API standards.
• Site Construction & Supervision: Oversee cable pulling, termination, grounding systems, and lighting installation in the field.
• Testing & Commissioning: Lead pre-commissioning checks, insulation resistance tests, loop checks, and startup of electrical equipment.
• Cross-Discipline Coordination: Work closely with piping, civil, and instrumentation teams to integrate plant utilities.
• Key Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience: 5 to 10+ years of industrial experience, with specific exposure to oil and gas or petrochemical EPC projects.
• Code Knowledge: Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, IEC, and regional standards (such as Saudi Aramco SAES-P series).
• Software Skills: Proficiency in power system analysis and CAD tools (ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical).
