Job Title: Junior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Draftsman – Vehicles

Reports To: Mechanical Design Engineer / Engineering Manager

Work Location: Al Kharj, Riyadh Region, Saudi Arabia

Industry: Automotive, Military Vehicles, Vehicle Armoring and Industrial Manufacturing

1. Job Purpose

To support the engineering team in preparing mechanical designs, 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, and technical documentation for commercial, military, and specialized vehicles. The role focuses on converting engineering concepts and specifications into accurate drawings suitable for fabrication, assembly, installation, and production, while developing practical engineering skills under the supervision of senior engineers.

2. Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Drafting and Design

Prepare and update 2D engineering drawings and 3D models for vehicle components, structures, and mechanical assemblies.

Develop detailed fabrication, machining, and assembly drawings based on engineering instructions and approved designs.

Assist in designing vehicle frames, brackets, mounting supports, body structures, panels, and mechanical components.

Prepare component layouts and assembly drawings for vehicle modifications and specialized applications.

Modify existing drawings according to approved engineering changes and supervisor instructions.

Ensure that drawings include the required dimensions, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing details.

Vehicle Engineering Support

Assist in developing mechanical solutions for commercial vehicles, military vehicles, and armored vehicle platforms.

Support the design and installation of vehicle equipment, accessories, and specialized mechanical systems.

Assist in preparing drawings for vehicle body structures, protective enclosures, mounting arrangements, and interior components.

Review vehicle measurements and physical dimensions to ensure design accuracy and proper component fitment.

Participate in workshop inspections, measurements, and verification of manufactured components.

Manufacturing and Production Support

Coordinate with fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and quality control teams to clarify drawing requirements.

Assist in preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs), parts lists, and technical documentation.

Support production teams in resolving drawing-related issues under the guidance of senior engineers.

Review manufactured parts against approved drawings and report discrepancies.

Incorporate approved production feedback into drawings and models.

Documentation and Quality

Maintain organized engineering drawings, CAD files, revisions, and technical records.

Ensure compliance with company drawing standards, engineering instructions, and quality procedures.

Assist in preparing design review documents and technical reports.

Follow document control procedures and ensure that only approved drawings are issued for production.

Observe workshop safety requirements and maintain confidentiality of engineering and project information.

3. Qualifications and Experience

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Typically 0–3 years of relevant experience in mechanical drafting, CAD design, automotive engineering, or manufacturing.

Previous exposure to vehicle manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or mechanical assembly is an advantage.

Experience in military vehicles or vehicle armoring is desirable but not mandatory.

4. Technical Skills

Working knowledge of AutoCAD and at least one 3D CAD application, such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or Autodesk Inventor.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.

Understanding of engineering dimensions, tolerances, materials, and basic manufacturing processes.

Basic knowledge of vehicle components, chassis structures, and mechanical assemblies.

Ability to prepare 2D drawings, 3D models, assembly drawings, and parts lists.

Familiarity with welding symbols, fabrication drawings, and GD&T is an advantage.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Willingness to learn engineering standards, CAD practices, and production procedures.

7. Working Conditions

Based at the company's manufacturing facility in Al Kharj, Riyadh Region, Saudi Arabia.

Regular interaction with engineering, fabrication, welding, assembly, and quality control teams.

May require working in workshops and production areas for measurements, inspections, and design verification.

Compliance with company safety procedures, quality requirements, and project confidentiality policies is mandatory.

8. Authority and Accountability

The Junior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timely preparation of assigned drawings and technical documents. All designs, technical modifications, and production drawing releases must be reviewed and approved by the authorized engineer or supervisor in accordance with company procedures.
