The Estimation Engineer is responsible for analyzing and preparing accurate cost estimates for projects. This role involves assessing the project's requirements, determining materials, labor, equipment, and time needed, and providing detailed estimates for construction, manufacturing, or other technical projects. The Estimation Engineer works closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure that estimates are aligned with the project scope, budget, and timeline.
Core Responsibilities (but not limited to):
Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for all stages of a project, including initial feasibility, detailed design, and final construction. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to prepare cost estimates.
Materials and Resources Analysis: Identify required materials, equipment, and labor needs for the project, and assess suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
Project Scope Understanding: Work with project managers, architects, and other team members to fully understand the scope of work and deliverables, ensuring that estimates cover all aspects of the project.
Cost Breakdown and Budgets: Break down the overall project cost into categories, such as labor, materials, overhead, and equipment, to ensure detailed budget forecasting. Ensure that all costs are accounted for and make adjustments as necessary.
Risk Analysis: Evaluate project risks and potential obstacles that could affect cost and schedule, and incorporate these factors into the estimate.
Quotation Preparation: Prepare and submit bids or quotations for projects based on the estimates. Work closely with clients or prospective clients to discuss requirements, pricing, and possible changes.
Value Engineering: Recommend alternatives or adjustments to improve project cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all estimates, proposals, and related documents. Prepare reports for management and clients as required.
Collaboration: Work closely with the procurement, construction, and engineering teams to ensure that estimates are realistic and feasible. Assist in the selection and negotiation of subcontractors and suppliers.
Market Research: Stay updated with industry trends, material costs, and new technologies that may influence cost estimation and project planning.
Experience and Qualifications:
Must have at least three years of experience as a project planner
Bachelor's in Engineering; Master's preferable.
