Job Purpose:
The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for tracking, monitoring, and controlling project costs to ensure that expenditures are aligned with the approved budget. This role involves working closely with project management, planning, and finance teams to analyze cost performance, forecast future costs, and support financial decision-making for construction or engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement cost control procedures, systems, and tools for projects.
Monitor actual project costs against budgets and report any variances.
Prepare regular cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow statements.
Support the preparation of project budgets and cost estimates.
Coordinate with procurement, planning, and project teams to validate incurred costs.
Analyze cost trends and identify cost-saving opportunities or potential overruns.
Track commitments, invoices, and payments to ensure proper cost allocation.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management and stakeholders.
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier cost performance.
Support the project team in the preparation of claims and variation orders related to cost.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost control, preferably in construction or engineering projects within the Gulf region.
Proficiency in cost control software such as Oracle Primavera (P6), SAP, or ERP systems.
Strong skills in MS Excel and data analysis tools.
Familiarity with project budgeting, forecasting, and reporting practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
Knowledge of Saudi market rates, regulations, and construction standards is preferred.
