The Senior Cost Control Engineer is responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting project costs to ensure effective cost planning and control throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves close collaboration with project management, engineering, procurement, and finance teams to monitor budgets, track expenditures, and forecast future financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement cost control systems, procedures, and standards for the project.
Monitor and track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
Prepare regular cost performance reports, including variance analysis and earned value management (EVM).
Conduct cost risk analysis and assist in identifying potential cost overruns.
Review and validate contractor/supplier invoices, change orders, and claims.
Interface with project planning/scheduling to align cost data with the project timeline.
Support the preparation of monthly project reports and financial updates.
Work with procurement to ensure accurate and timely recording of purchase orders and commitments.
Evaluate the financial impact of engineering and design changes on the project.
Contribute to project close-out by ensuring final cost reporting and lessons learned documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in cost control, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
Experience in large-scale engineering or infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in cost control software/tools (SAP) is mandatory.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) and project budgeting practices.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as CCP (Certified Cost Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional).
