Job Description – Civil Estimation Engineer (Portable Cabin Manufacturing Industry)

Position: Civil Estimation Engineer

Industry: Portable Cabin / Modular Building / Prefabricated Construction

Job Summary

The Civil Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, material calculations, and tender submissions for portable cabins, modular buildings, prefab structures, and steel fabrication projects. The role involves coordinating with engineering, procurement, production, and project management teams to ensure competitive and technically compliant quotations.

Key Responsibilities

Review tender documents, RFQs, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and client requirements.

Prepare detailed cost estimates for portable cabins, modular buildings, prefabricated structures, and temporary facilities.

Perform quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.

Estimate costs for:

Structural steel

Light Gauge Steel (LGS)

Sandwich panels

Cement boards

Gypsum boards

Flooring systems

Roofing systems

Aluminum doors and windows

Finishing works

MEP installations

Calculate material requirements and prepare detailed material take-off (MTO).

Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluate commercial offers.

Prepare detailed BOQs, cost breakdowns, and pricing schedules.

Analyze labor, equipment, transportation, overhead, and project execution costs.

Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, and production departments for technical clarifications.

Prepare value engineering proposals to optimize project costs without compromising quality.

Ensure compliance with project specifications, Saudi Building Code (SBC), Aramco standards (where applicable), and client requirements.

Prepare tender documents, commercial proposals, and technical submissions.

Identify project risks and include contingency allowances where required.

Update cost databases and maintain historical pricing records.

Participate in tender review meetings and management presentations.

Assist project teams during handover after award.

Support procurement in material planning and budget control.

Monitor market prices of construction materials and fabrication components.

Prepare variation order estimates and additional work quotations.

Coordinate with planning and production teams to verify manufacturing feasibility.

Ensure estimates are completed within tender deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

3–8 years of experience in estimation for portable cabins, modular buildings, prefabricated structures, or steel fabrication.

Experience in GCC countries is preferred.

Knowledge of industrial, commercial, and residential modular construction projects is an advantage.
